Inaugural meeting of the Kawasaki Water Business Network

On August 27, 2012 (Monday), the inaugural meeting of the Kawasaki Water Business Network (KaWaBiz NET) was held at Kawasaki Nikko Hotel in Kawasaki City.

The meeting was attended by 81 delegates from 43 members and 12 cooperators. In addition to the introduction of the members/cooperators and agenda discussion, it featured a speech on the promotion of partnerships with the private sector by a representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). On behalf of the target countries/regions for water business, representatives of the Shenyang Economic and Trade Office (China), the Danang Representative Office in Japan (Vietnam), and the Queensland Government Trade and Investment Office - Japan (Australia) also presented overviews of their cities/regions and water issues.

With the aim of contributing to enhancing the global water environment through water business, we will identify challenges and requirements associated with the development of water business in Shenyang City, Danang City, and the State of Queensland.

Memorandum of understanding for partnership signed between JICA and Kawasaki City

Upon establishment of KaWaBiz NET, JICA and Kawasaki City signed a memorandum of understanding for partnership to promote practical cooperation, including information exchange through KaWaBiz NET.

The parties will collaborate in the promotion of public-private partnership projects for water environment enhancement in developing countries. They will jointly strive to enhance the water environment in Asian regions, such as Danang City, Vietnam.
